The 2017 March Madness bracket is now out and ready to be filled in. There were many strange and unexpected occurrences in Championship Week with Kansas losing to TCU early on and Duke winning the ACC tournament. Also, Arizona was able to prevail as the PAC-12 tournament champions beating UCLA and Oregon en route to cutting down the nets.
In this top quarter of the bracket I have Villanova and Kansas reaching the Sweet 16. I believe that ETSU will upset Florida, and Michigan State will defeat Miami.
I have SMU upsetting Baylor to be able to play Duke in the Sweet 16, while on the other side I picked Oregon and Louisville to reach the last 16. I think that Creighton will lose to URI in an upset.
Now this is where my bracket gets interesting with my upset special, Vanderbilt defeating the 1 seed, Gonzaga. I also have Middle Tennessee, who stunned Michigan St. last year, beating the Golden Gophers. I believe that UNC, WVU, Butler, and Vandy will reach the Sweet 16.
Lastly, in the bottom quadrant, I’ve got Florida Gulf Coast ending FSU’s season early. VCU and Wichita State will make up my two 7 v 10 upsets. Finally, I predicted that Arizona, Maryland, UCLA, and Kentucky will all advance to the Sweet 16.
I have some more upsets in the Big Dance with the red hot Blue Devils losing to SMU, as well as, Oregon beating Louisville. The top two 1 seeds made my Elite 8.
I do not have any upsets in this section. Arizona, West Virginia, and UNC will role into the final 8, while UCLA will put up a good fight against Kentucky, but will ultimately fail to move on.
My Final Four consists of Nova, Arizona, Oregon, and Kentucky. In my opinion, the defending champs will be outlasted by Arizona, and Kentucky will defeat Oregon. In the National Championship game, I have Arizona cutting down the nets after a close game by the score of 73-69.
